OF THE FEDERAL DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ETHIOPIA 6 Year No. 18 ADDIS ABABA - 28th December , 1999 CONTENTS Proclamation No. 190/1999 Public Servants ' Pension ( Amendment ) Proclamation Page 1234 PROCLAMATION NO . 190/1999 A PROCLAMATION TO AMEND THE PUBLIC SERVANTS ' PENSION PROCLAMATION WHEREAS , it has become necessary to amend the Public Servants ' Pension Proclamation ; NOW , THEREFORE , in accordance with Article 55 ( 1 ) of the Constitution of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia , it is hereby proclaimed as follows : 1. Short Title This Proclamation may be cited as the “ Public Servants ' Pension ( Amendment ) Proclamation No. 190/1999 . ” 2. Amendment The Public Servants ' Pension Proclamation No. 209/1963 ( as amended ) is hereby further amended as follows : 1 ) Sub Article ( 3 ) of Article 4 is deleted and replaced by the following new Sub Article ( 3 ) : “ 3 ) “ Public Servant ' means a permanent em ployee of a Federal or Regional Government office and includes : ( a ) a permanent employee of an ganization in which the Government has at least fifty per cent ownership ; ( b ) a government appointee working in any Federal or Regional Government organ ; Unit Price The African Law Archive No.18 28 December , 1999 Page 1235 ( c ) a representative who had resigned from his pensionable job because of election and serves in any Federal or Regional government organ on full time basis ; ( d ) a member of the Defence or Police force working in any Federal or Regional Govern ment organ . ” 2 ) Sub Article ( 4 ) of Article 4 is deleted and replaced by the following new Sub Article ( 4 ) : “ 4 ) In this Proclamation , the phrase “ Member of the Defence Forces ” shall have the meaning given to it in the Defence Forces Proclamation No. 27/1996 . ” 3 ) The phrase “ Member of the Armed Forces ” is deleted wherever it appears in the Proclamation and replaced by the phrase " Member of the Defence Forces . ” 4 ) Article 24 is deleted and replaced by the following new Article 24 : Widower's Pension The Provision of this Proclamation provided for a widow shall equally apply to widower's pension . ” 3. Transitory Provisions The amendment under Article 2 ( 1 ) of this Proclamation shall also be applicable to representatives of the people who had served within the period starting from the establishment of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and until the effective date of this Proclamation . 4.
