A PROCLAMATION TO PROVIDE FOR
THE ESTABLISHMENT OF HANDICRAFTS AND SMALL - SCALE INDUSTRIES DEVELOPMENT AGENCY
WHEREAS, handicrafts and small - scale industries provide considerable employment and make an important contribution to the national economy ;

WHEREAS, it is necessary to promote and coordinate the development of handicrafts and small - scale industries in accord ance with the National Democratic Revolution Programme ;
WHEREAS, to achieve these purposes, it is deemed appro
NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with Article 5 (6) of the Redefinition of the Powers and Responsibilities of the Provisional Military Admnistration Council and the Council of Ministers Proclamation No. 110/1977, it is hereby proclaimed as follows:
1. Short Title
This Proclamation may be cited as the “ Handicrafts and Small - scale Industries Development Agency Establishment Proclamation No. 124/1977 ".
2. Definitions
In this Proclamation, unless the context otherwise requires: 1) " Handicraft " shall mean any manufacturing activity
which predominantly uses manual skills and hand - tools ;
2) " Small - scale Industry " shall mean any manufacturing activity which normally uses motive power and ma chines and which has fixed assets the value of which does not exceed 200,000 Birr excluding buildings and land improvement.
