A PROCLAMATION TO DETERMINE THE OBSERVANCE OF PUBLIC HOLIDAYS

WHEREAS, a proclamation providing for public holidays has been issued; and
WHEREAS, it is necessary to determine the manner of observance of the public holidays ;
NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with Article 6 of the Definition of Powers of the Provisional Military Administration Council and its Chairman Proclamation, it is hereby proclaimed as follows:
1. Short Title
This Proclamation may be cited as the " Observance of Public Holidays Proclamation No. 28 of 1975. "
2. New Year's and Eritrean Reunion with Ethiopia Day This holiday (September 11) shall be observed throughout Ethiopia. It shall be observed as follows:
1) the Head of State or the Head of Government shall, on the eve of the holiday, deliver to the public a short speech over the radio and television, outlining the significance of the holiday, and
2) the Ministry of Culture shall on September 11 make a statement to the public over the radio and television on the subject of new year, independence and unity...
3. Popular Revolution Commemoration Day
This holiday (September 12) which commemorates the overthrow of the aristocracy, feudality and bourgeoisie shall be observed with grand ceremony as follows:
1) arches bearing posters describing the aims of the Revolution shall be erected on the main streets ,
