PROCLAMATION No. 193 OF 1980
A PROCLAMATION TO PROVIDE FOR THE
ESTABLISHMENT OF THE ETHIOPIAN MAPPING AGENCY
WHEREAS, the carrying out of surveying and mapping activities, geographic studies and research and similar activities is one of the basic fields of endeavour required to advance the social and economic development of Ethiopia in accordance with the National Democratic Revolution Programme ;
WHEREAS, it is necessary to supervise the methodology and regulate the standard of accuracy of surveying and map ping activities in the country ;
WHEREAS, the documentation in one centre of infor mation concerning surveying and mapping activities, geographic studies and research and similar activities will help to carry out such activities in a manner co - ordinated and geared to
WHEREAS, this objective can best be implemented by the establishment of an agency vested with the necessary powers and responsibilities ;

NOW, THEREFORE, in accordance with Article 5 (6) of the Redefinition of Powers and Responsibilities of the Pro visional Military Administrative Council and the Council of Ministers Proclamation No. 110/1977, it is hereby proclaimed as follows:
1. Short Title
This Proclamation may be cited as the " Ethiopian Mapping Agency Establishment Proclamation No. 193/1980. ”
