OF THE FEDERAL DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF ETHIOPIA 5 Year No. 43 ADDIS ABABA - 41h March , 1999 CONTENTS Proclamation No. 162/199 The Investments promotion and Reciprocal Protection Agreement with the Government of Malaysia Ratification Proclamation Page 1008 PROCLAMATION NO . 162/1999 A PROCLAMATION TO RATIFY THE INVESTMENTS PROMOTION AND RECIPROCAL PROTECTION AGREEMENT WITH THE GOVERNMENT OF WHEREAS , an Agreement between the Government of Malaysia and the Government of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia on the Promotion and Protection of Investments was signed in Kuala Lumpur on the 22nd day of October , 1998 ; WHEREAS , it is stipulated in the Agreement that the Agreement shall enter into force thirty days after the later date on which the Governments of the contracting parties have notified each other that their constitutional requirements for the entry into force of the Agreement have been fulfilled ; WHEREAS , the House of Peoples ' Representatives of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia has ratified said Agreement at its session held on the 4thday of March , 1999 ; NOW , THEREFORE , in accordance with Article 55 sub - Articles ( 1 ) and ( 12 ) of the Constitution , it is hereby proclaimes as follows : Short Title This Proclamation may be cited as the “ Investments Promotion and Reciprocal Protection Agreement with the Government of Malaysia Ratification Proclamation No. 162/1999 . ” Unit Price The African Law Archive – No. 43- 4 March , 1999 - Page 1009 2. Ratification of the Agreement The Agreement on Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments , signed in Kuala Lumpur on the 22nd day of October , 1998 between the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and the Government of Malaysia , is ratified . Power of the Ethiopian Investment Authority The Ethiopian Investment Authority is hereby empowered to implement the Agreement . Effective Date This Proclamation shall enter into force as of the 4th day of March , 1999 . Done at Addis Ababa , this 4hday of March , 1999 .
